Kasaragod, a magnificent creation of nature is bounded by the Western ghats in the
east and Arabian sea in the west. This place is marked off from the adjoining areas by the Western Ghats running parallel to the sea on its Eastern side. The coastline has alternating low cliffs and stretches of sand.
There are 12 rivers in this district. The following places add to its stature as a hot tourist destination
Bekal Fort and Beach
Bekal fort was constructed by Shivappa Nayaka
of Bednore. Almost three fourths of the fort is drenched and waves strike the citadel, brings out the fact that it was built up from the sea. This fort was not built as a residence but exclusively for defense purpose. The area in an around the fort is an attraction to all tourists.

Malik Dinar Mosque
Over the years, Kasargod acquired the considerable importance as a centre of Islam on the west coast. A historical mosque believed to be constructed by Malik Deena is located here.

Bela Church
Constructed in 1890AD this is a Gothic style Roman Catholic Church which has recently celebrated its centenary.

Kottancherry Hills
These hills are covered with rain forest and is a beautiful picnic spot. Ideal place for trekking. Kodaikanal beauty is visible from here.
